The KP-3 from Kurzweil is a piano style footswitch with two pedals and two separate output jacks, for use with keyboards and other devices. When plugged into compatible jacks, stepping on a pedal will control the parameter that's assigned to the jack, which in many cases will be the sustain and damper functions on piano instruments. The KP-3 can also be used to trigger a recording device to start and stop recording; it could trigger a guitar amplifier to switch into overdrive, etc. The KP-3 features dual rubberized tips to keep your feet in place, and a traditional pedal layout that will be familiar to pianists.
